Matheson had two assists, giving him a point on every goal.Cayden Primeau was credited with 27 saves as the Canadiens snapped a four-game winless streak.Christian Fischer scored his first goal of the season for the Red Wings. J.T. Compher had the other goal and James Reimer made 23 saves.Montreal converted on 2 of 5 power play chances while the Red Wings came up empty on four power plays. Detroit racked up 22 minutes in penalties, compared to 10 for Montreal.Despite picking up a point, the Wings have lost six of their last eight games.With 1:33 left in overtime, Reimer was called for a penalty for holding Caufield’s stick. Caufield scored from the left circle with a shot that tumbled over Reimer’s right shoulder.Matheson’s third goal of the season was the only one of the first period.
